The “Der volle Napf” (“The full bowl”)
The war in Ukraine is an unimaginable tragedy of an unpredictable scale. It hits and affects all of us. In Ukrainian cities and villages, where hundreds of human lives are destroyed by bombs and gunfire, also animals are among the victims. They die, lose their families, their shelter and become refugees together with their owners. Hundreds of thousands of people flee from Ukraine. Many of them come to Switzerland and carry their beloved pets along.
While several Swiss foundations and organisations are already helping the human refugees, we want to facilitate the reception and provision of their animal friends in Switzerland.
Many animals do not have compulsory vaccinations, microchips or even food. They, like their humans, fled in a hurry and had to leave the usual life behind. Some are injured and need urgent support.
We finance our campaign through a sale of handmade ceramics, specially for this purpose produced by the Swiss professional ceramist Elvira Koroleva (https://ceramella.ch) and her student Anna Bogdanova, who works at the Vetsuisse Faculty in University of Zurich.
The aim of the action is to raise money for health care, food and necessary supplies for animal refugees. Weekly donations are distributed in person to those in need.
We hope very much that many people will take part in the action and thus will help the refugees and their four-legged and feathered friends to survive and feel warm in this turbulent time!
